Hello my fellow Pool/Spa bloggers,
I trust everyone is keeping warm on these cold days!!!
I wanted to take some time to go over some very important information regarding your pool and the cold weather.
First and foremost, in Austin during these cold months your pool can be a gleaming beauty compared to how you may be used to seeing it during the summer months. Sometimes this may be true and there is a very good reason for this…….its COLD!!!!
Algae is the main culprit behind non clear water very often and it cannot live or grow effectively in cold water. Cold water is not only harmful for algae, it is also harmful for us as well!!!
Sometimes it may be a bit easy to become complacent regarding basic pool safety because we are not having fun with it and it almost becomes out of sight and mind. This is when we need to be the most aware during these months because the water is so cold and the effects it has on us are very dangerous in each and every manor.
I have included a link from the awesome folk at the National Water Safety Congress Organization:
This website has some great basic knowledge on cold water and on just how imperative it is to be safe around your pool during the winter.
Pool equipment winterizing is a subject that all pool and spa owners should be knowledgeable of in regards to their specific system. Pool winterizing is an essential step in insuring that no harm will come to your pool equipment.
Capitol City Pools is well experienced in winterizing all pool and spa equipment from all the major equipment manufacturers.
Here are some of the basic tips to insuring your pool equipment is safe:
-Remove your pool cleaner
-Have chemicals properly balanced for cold weather
-Install your pool cover if you have one
-Make sure your winterizing programming or timers are working properly
Please be careful in the cold weather and as always, feel free to leave a comment or question.

Getting your pool ready to swim
For clients of Pool Service and Pool Troopers there is still one month to take advantage of our Spring Special Filter maintenance and equipment check. This annual preventative maintenance on your pool’s equipment is designed to get your pool and its equipment ready for the swim season which is upon us now. DE filters need to be disassembled and cleaned, and cartridges need to be checked and replaced if needed. Seals and O-rings need to be checked, lubricated and replaced, and a safety inspection of the pool pump and filter, the timer and wiring, as well as the drain covers in the pool needs to be done. All of this is included in this service.
Thousands of you have already taken advantage of this service where we bundle all these activities and give you a discount to perform these services. Of course we do these things year round, but in the spring when most clients need it we do it for a reduced price. We believe you should be free of the worries and concerns of your pool so that you are truly free to enjoy your pool.
That belief is why we discount our prices when you need the service the most. Give us a call today, this Spring Special runs through May, and we would be honored to have your back and get your pool ready for the family’s enjoyment!
